Botched Hernia Operation Yields $12 Million Malpractice Jury Verdict
A Connecticut woman who had undergone a routine hernia operation has been awarded a $12 million medical malpractice verdict after jurors found Danbury Hospital and two doctors were liable for the medical errors that punctured her colon, left her in a comatose state for a month, and led to a massive internal infection. According to one media report, the surgeons didn’t realize they had punctured her colon until after she developed a massive internal infection and suffered a heart attack.
