Fourth Positive Hepatitis C Test from Kansas Hospital Revealed
A fourth person has tested positive for the hepatitis C virus that has been linked to the Exeter Hospital outbreak earlier this summer. All four individuals in Kansas have contracted the virus from Hays Medical Center. The alleged transmitter of the potentially fatal virus, David Kwiatkowski, was a travelling medical technician while carrying the hepatitis C virus. According to media reports, “The Kansas Department of Health and Environment announced the latest positive test Friday. The other three positive tests were reported last month.
The KDHE said 474 people were potentially exposed to hepatitis C when David Kwiatkowksi worked at the Hays hospital’s cardiac catheterization lab from May 24 to Sept. 22, 2010.”
