Iowa Doctor Fined for Removing Healthy Ovaries
The Iowa Board of Medicine has fined a Sioux City gynecologist for removing a woman’s healthy ovaries during a hysterectomy. Dr. Kevin Hamburger also faces a civil medical malpractice lawsuit as a result of his medical error. According to the Sioux City Journal, “According to the lawsuit filed in April, patient Erin Rehan, 29, was told by Hamburger that her ovaries would not be removed during the procedure. A hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus.”
