Is Joan Rivers’ Death a Medical Malpractice Case?
A few days after Joan Rivers’ death, there are rumblings in the press that her demise may be linked to medical malpractice. The 81-year-old comedienne was reportedly in very good health prior to entering Yorkville Endoscopy Clinic for a simple procedure. According to one media report, “Sources close to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where Rivers was transferred to after she stopped breathing, claimed that they were unclear on how long the comedienne’s brain had been deprived of oxygen before she was put into a medically induced coma. Logic says that if Rivers had been monitored closely then those caring for her should have had a pretty clear handle on her real condition, minute-by-minute.” While it is still too early to tell if malpractice played a role in her death, the media is already speculating.
