Jury Finds Doctor and Hospital Liable for Birth Injury
A Port Charlotte Florida hospital and Dr. Michael Coffey have been found liable in a birth injury medical malpractice trial. The jury awarded the parents of a child born with a severe brain injury $23,000,000. In their determination, the jury found that Dr. Michael Coffey was 70% responsible for the child’s severe injuries and the hospital, formerly known as Peace River Regional, 30% responsible for the birth injury.
