Jury Returns $14.5 Million Verdict in Birth Injury Malpractice Case
A Cuyahoga County jury has awarded a boy who suffered a brain hemorrhage when his delivery was delayed $14.5 million in a medical malpractice verdict.
Alijah Jones, 11, and his mother Stephanie Stewart, sued MetroHealth Medical Center and Dr. Steven Weight for medical negligence in delaying the performance of an emergency caesarian section. According to local media story, Stewart requested a caesarian section but her request was delayed due to a dispute among the medical staff.
