New Patient Tests Positive for Hepatitis C From Exeter Hospital
Another patient has tested positive for hepatitis C in the wake of the Exeter Hospital hepatitis C outbreak. The new positive test brings to 31 the number of those testing positive for the potentially deadly virus. There remain 21 people from the original testing population which remain untested. NH state officials are trying to contact them to arrange testing.
Hepatitis C testing has been expanded from the original time periods. According to www.seacoastonline.com, “Late last month, it was announced that hepatitis C testing would be expanded to about 3,300 patients who had surgery at the hospital or were admitted to its intensive care unit from April 1, 2011, to May 25, 2012, because Kwiatkowski had limited access to those areas of the hospital.”
