VA Hospital Scandal a National Tragedy
Recent revelations of the death of 40 military veterans in Phoenix who were placed on a “secret waiting list” to delay their care and the horrific negligence found in VA hospitals across the country is a national disgrace and a national tragedy. Our military veterans deserve the best medical treatment, not the worst. This blog has been writing about medical malpractice cases in the Veterans’ Administration facilities for years now. The revelations have never reached this level of behavior or notoriety but it seems quite clear that the Administration should have known that it had a serious problem on its hands with the operation of the VA hospitals. A Washington Post story from 2007 related the poor conditions and treatment to be found in VA facilities.
These revelations are a terrible stain on our country and the problem must be addressed and resolved in a forthright and swift fashion.
