Wrong Eye Surgery Leads to Medical Malpractice Case
A four-year-old boy went to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center to correct a wandering eye. The surgery was supposed to be performed on the boy’s right eye. However, the surgeon operated on the left eye instead. “This isn’t about the money to me,” the boy’s father, Dale Matlock, said. “This is about all the people out there that have been through what we’ve been through the last two years. All the mishap surgeries that go on out there and all they do is try to cover it up. I’m done with it.” According to the boy’s parents, the surgeon didn’t realize her mistake until she had completed surgery on the wrong eye.
